There have been a number of people who have had dreams to actualy quit their job or school to fulfill their dream. Mostly, people come back to earth and realize that this isn’t the best idea, opting for something a bit more stable. For many people, as we know, this will not work, and we’ll be back to where we started. For others, ones that know that they will make it, choose the more dangerous route. Fortunately, there are some success stories, and one is Johnny Chan. The man dropped out of the University of Houston to pursue his dream in poker, and it has really paid off.

While his parents may not have agreed with his decision, they soon found out that the man really had a passion for the game. Back in 1988 and 1989, he won the WSOP consecutively, obviously, something that many people can say they have done. In fact, his second WSOP win inspired the final play in a movie. There’s no other poker legends who can claim this. Also, there is another awe inspiring fact: he is tied for WSOP bracelet wins with the legend, Dolye Brunson. Lastly, Chan can also say that he attributed to the success of Jamie Gold, as his mentor when it comes to the sport. All in all, there are none that are more decorated than Johnny Chan, who is akin to a mythical legend.

When he’s not playing the sport, he spends time with his six children.
