It’s always great when a person has a professional sports background, especially when it comes to other aggressive forms of an income. Such is the case ith Gus Hansen, or his poker name “The Great Dane.”This man dominated in the sports arena, but then he tried to give a go at another style of life. He started in the casinos, with the aspirations of becoming a professional backgammon player. It wasn’t as if he failed, either. He was widely considered to be the best in the world at his depature. After he thought that backgammon wasn’t something he wanted to do, he switched his game to poker. That was a pretty good idea, too, especially because he excelled at it.

Since he started playing poker professionally in 1997, he’s made more than $7 million, and that number continues to grow every time that he touches the table. He’s known for playing the players, not the cards. Obviously, his technique worked out, as he has transcended many of his opponents, besting them time and time again. The Great Dane is always looking for new challenges, and he’s known to be all that his name implies when he has the cards in his hands. With 6 first place finishes under his belt, this Denmark native is more than great, the man is a living legend.

Gus Hansen is one that has used his competitive nature to make him a millionaire, summoning his ferocity he learned from the tennis courts and using it for the poker tables.
